Applications of calcium carbonate powder (uncoated)
Calcium carbonate is one of the most widely used fillers in the production of water-based and oil-based paints. It increases the strength of the coating, reduces the consumption of expensive pigments such as TiO₂, and thus reduces the total cost. It also helps to improve the drying time and create a matte and uniform surface.
It is used as the main filler material in Kinitex (textured) coatings. The presence of calcium carbonate creates a thick, prominent and resistant texture, which has a more beautiful appearance and is more durable against wear and impact.
Calcium carbonate is used as the main filler in hard PVC pipes. It increases compressive strength, reduces brittleness, and improves the internal and external surface of the pipe. In addition, due to the reasonable price, manufacturers can significantly reduce the cost of raw materials.
In the formulation of white, colored and filler masterbatches, calcium carbonate causes better dispersion of pigments and improves the optical and mechanical properties of the product. Also, as a cheap carrier, it reduces the consumption of expensive raw materials and keeps the quality of the product stable.
It is used in various PVC products (from profiles and flooring to hoses and sheets). Its main advantages are increasing strength, improving wear resistance, reducing shrinkage and reducing the total price. It also helps to control the rheology (melt flow) in the production process.
In the production of all kinds of car tires, belts, shoes and industrial parts, calcium carbonate increases the hardness and wear resistance and at the same time reduces the production cost. It also helps to make the surface uniform and improve processability.
In the production of disposable PP and PS containers, calcium carbonate, in addition to reducing the price, causes more strength, improves thermal resistance (suitable for hot drinks) and has a smoother and more shiny surface. It also helps to reduce the consumption of polymer materials.
⚙️ Compounds:
In the polymer industry, calcium carbonate is used as a primary filler in compound formulations. In addition to reducing costs, it improves mechanical properties (hardness, tensile modulus) and increases product volume. It is widely used in automotive and construction compounds.
🧴 Plastics Industry:
Applied in general polymers such as PE, PP, and PS. The presence of calcium carbonate enhances thermal properties, increases hardness, and reduces shrinkage of plastic parts. Moreover, manufacturers can control product weight and cost without compromising technical quality.
⚡ Wires and Cables:
In PVC compounds used for wire and cable insulation, calcium carbonate acts as a reinforcing agent. Its addition improves tensile strength and thermal resistance of the insulation while reducing production costs. It also enhances electrical properties and lowers moisture absorption.
🔹 Granules:
In the production of polymer granules, calcium carbonate facilitates the extrusion process, improves melt flow, and reduces the consumption of base resin. At the same time, the final product maintains acceptable mechanical properties.
